Printers, Computers, & Faxing

Public Use Computers
We have 6 desktop computer stations in the main library area, 2 desktop computer stations in the children's room, and 2 laptop computers available for use anywhere in the library building.

To log into a desktop computer station, log in with your Crook, Deschutes, or Jefferson County library card. Your user name is the barcode number on the back of your card. If you haven't reset your password, it is usually the last four digits of your phone number. Desktop computer sessions are one hour, with the option to extend your time if no one else is waiting for a computer.

  • If you don't have a library card, the staff at the front desk can issue you a guest pass. Access cards issued by Deschutes Public Library will not work with Crook County Library computers.

To use a laptop computer station, you must have a valid and unrestricted Crook County Library card. First-time laptop users will need to complete and sign a Laptop Release Form. Laptops can be used anywhere inside the library. While the laptop is checked out, we will keep your photo ID or credit/debit card in the cash register at the front desk. Laptops may be checked out for up to 3 hours per day.

Loanable Technology Kits

Need to increase your access to technology at home? The library offers tech kits with tablets and WiFi hotspots. Click here for more information.

WiFi

Free WiFi is available throughout library grounds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our WiFi network is named Library Guests. No library card or password is required to access the WiFi, although all WiFi users must agree to the terms of use outlined in our Technology Use Policy.

Printing, Copying, and Scanning

The library is equipped with a print station that handles printing, photocopying, and scanning.

You can print from any of our public computer stations. Once you've sent your document to our printer, you can log in and pay at the print release station at the library to receive your print job.

Photocopies are $0.25 per page or side for black & white, $0.75 per page or side for color.

Scan-to-email services are free to the public. In order to ensure delivery, we recommend scanning documents to your own email first and then forwarding them to any other intended recipients.

Children's Game Computers
We have 2 AWE Early Literacy Stations available in the children's room. Each computer is pre-loaded with over 60 bilingual educational games for children age 2-8. You don't need a library card to access the AWE stations.

Faxing
Faxing is available at the library. We charge $2.50 for every batch of up to ten pages sent or received – for example, a 1-10 page job is $2.50, an 11-20 page job is $5.00, a 21-30 page job is $7.50, and so on. If you would like to receive a fax at the library, please notify us beforehand so we know it's coming.
